Connor Completes Perfect Season with Win at Baja 1000
For only the third time in the 48 year history of the SCORE International Off-Road Racing series, a driver completed the perfect season by winning all five events. Dayton native Larry Connor swept the 2015 season, culminated by Saturday’s win of the grueling Baja 1000 in the Trophy Truck Spec Class. Connor, teamed with two other drivers, Sean Backus and Jason Ruane, not only completed the race but beat their nearest in-class competitor by almost five hours. Even more remarkable is the fact this is only Connor’s second year participating in a full SCORE International Off-Road Racing season.
This win solidifies Connor’s status as a finalist for SCORE International’s Driver of the Year award.
When asked the key to his team’s success, Connor replied, “First, we’ve got a great team of people. Second, we put together an outstanding race plan and executed it. Winning the Baja 1000 is the result of a tremendous amount of work and preparation by dedicated professionals. In addition, I absolutely believe we had the best truck in the class with a Mason Motorsports built vehicle. The reliability this year has simply been phenomenal.”
The 2016 season of the SCORE International Off-Road Racing kicks off with the San Felipe 250 in February in San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico.
